Avoid “artificial hypercomplication” in basic musculoskeletal functional examination procedures

As musculoskeletal therapists we have an “armageddon” of different test procedures at our disposal, very much dependant of which methods or approaches you are familiar with or you like. It’s not difficult to find 100 different “tests” which are used e.g. in examining a lumbar patient. So, that could be quite confusing 😊
Sign of the buttock, why is this a red flag in lumbar patients ?

It is so important to perform the passive hip flexion immediately after the straight leg raise during the lumbar functional examination, otherwise we cannot detect the "Sign of the buttock", which could be an important red flag.
